In celebration of HR Professionals Day, or as we like to call it, People Professionals Day, we are shining a spotlight on our very own, Jordyn Hostutler, Senior People Operations Specialist. With nearly a decade of experience in HR and more than two years with Apryse, Jordyn brings a unique perspective to both the industry and our People Team. She shares what drew her to Apryse, what excites her most about People Operations, and her advice for those looking to build a career in HR.
I was looking for a company that not only offered exciting challenges but also truly cared about its people and Apryse stood out to me. Starting a career here felt like the perfect opportunity to grow professionally while being part of a team that values collaboration and well-being just as much as results.
I’ve been working in the HR space for nearly 10 years, and throughout that time, I’ve consistently gravitated toward roles that touched on People Operations. Most of my experience has been as an HR Business Partner on smaller teams, which gave me the opportunity to wear many hats including handling various People Ops responsibilities. I’ve always been drawn to the project management, process improvement, and compliance aspects of the work.
What I love most is that there’s always something new to learn, People Operations is an ever-evolving field, and that constant growth keeps me engaged and excited about what’s next.
I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done on the People Team side over the past few years. From building out career architecture and improving benefits, to evolving our performance management processes and employee engagement, it’s been a busy and rewarding journey. That said, none of it has been a solo effort. I’ve been lucky to collaborate with an amazing group on the entire People Team.
One thing that continues to surprise and impress me about working at Apryse is how genuinely invested people are, not just in their work, but in supporting one another. There’s a real sense of teamwork here, and it shows in the way people step up, collaborate, and celebrate each other’s wins. I’ve always felt supported by the organization, both professionally and personally. It makes a huge difference when you know your contributions matter and your well-being is a priority.
One of my favorite recent memories at Apryse has to be the mini carnival we hosted at the Denver office (huge shoutout to Melanie for making it all happen!). We had ice cream and played games like cornhole, ladder ball, “guess how many cherries are in the jar,”etc. and had a little friendly competition with prizes on the line. It was such a fun way to break up the day, connect with teammates in person, and just enjoy.
Something Rachelle (our Chief People Officer) often says and that I fully agree with is to say yes to everything you can be a part of. Even if it’s not the most exciting or glamorous task, every opportunity is a chance to learn, grow, and build your skill set.
If you’re looking to get into People Operations, the best way to start is by jumping in wherever you can, even if it feels outside your comfort zone. Exposure to different areas, whether it’s process improvement, project management, compliance, or employee engagement will give you a broader perspective and make you stronger in the long run.
We’re grateful for our People Team, who are constantly working to improve the employee experience. They seamlessly navigate complex HR regulations across countries, cultural differences, diverse employee needs, and multiple acquisitions, all while driving continuous growth and improvement.
If you’re looking to build a dynamic career in HR, we’d love to hear from you. Explore our current opportunities and discover how you can grow with us at Apryse Careers.
