Alison’s Journey: Growth, Collaboration, and Software Security at Apryse

Along the way, she’s earned prestigious awards, joined our leadership training program, and discovered the surprising scope of Apryse’s impact on industries worldwide. Alison’s story is one of growth, curiosity, and connection—qualities that reflect the heart of the Apryse team.

I came to Apryse through the iText acquisition. When the recruiter reached out to me, I was exploring a career transition into development and was open to new opportunities. As I was interviewing with the Product and Support teams for a role as a developer support engineer for the iText product, I was impressed by how enjoyable the interviews were throughout each round. What really stood out was the team's strong sense of collaboration and camaraderie; they clearly enjoyed their work, and I was really eager to be a part of that.

About six months ago, I transitioned into the Software Security Engineer role. This role is incredibly multifaceted. It balances active threat detection, remediation, and, ultimately, prevention, as well as cross-functional collaboration. I also work with my team to define foundational policy, process, and compliance. I love the challenge of solving complex problems and being a part of shaping the way we approach application security as a company.

I am extremely honored to be a part of so many ‘firsts’ at Apryse. Two accomplishments that stand out the most are earning one of the first annual Apryse Way awards for 2023 and being a member of the inaugural cohort of our High Potential Leadership Training program this past October.

These experiences have been incredibly rewarding, not only because they recognize my contributions but also because they reflect Apryse’s commitment to my professional development. I love that as eager as I am to learn and grow, the company is equally dedicated to investing in my growth. It’s inspiring to be part of a company where I can grow alongside it.

I am continuously surprised by the enormous scope of our product line. Digital documents touch every single area of our lives, from education and healthcare to finance and entertainment. Working at Apryse has given me a unique perspective on how integral our software is in facilitating seamless digital workflows. The innovation and dedication of our team to constantly improve and expand our offerings is truly inspiring. It’s exciting to be part of a company that is at the forefront of digital document technology, making a tangible impact on virtually every single industry.

One of my favorite memories at Apryse is attending the Sales Team’s President Club trip, which I earned by winning the annual Apryse Way award this past January. It was an incredible experience meeting colleagues from around the world and spending quality time with them in person for the first time. I also had the unique opportunity to get face time and have conversations with Cass, our CEO, and Randall, our VP of Sales. Learning about their experiences, leadership styles, and future vision for the company was invaluable and inspiring. Plus, escaping the Boston winter for a week in Mexico was a fantastic bonus!

Introduce yourself to everyone, build connections, and never be afraid to ask questions. Take the time to learn about different teams and their projects. We work alongside some of the most brilliant minds I have ever met, who are eager to share their knowledge and wisdom with whoever asks.
