At Apryse, our culture is driven by our dedication to teamwork and collaboration, so we create the best solutions possible and continue our growth. We understand that our people are at the heart of the Apryse journey to success, and that’s why we’re proud to spotlight those who are helping shape it.

This month, we’re excited to introduce you to Lachlan Guy, Director of Global Business Development, whose career has soared to new heights since joining the Apryse team.

What made you want to start a career at Apryse?

At the time, I was consulting for several companies when the CMO reached out with an exciting opportunity to build and scale a BDR function from scratch. He had previously led Galvanize (now part of Diligent group) to a successful exit and brought a wealth of experience to the table. The market potential was simply too big to pass up.

What truly stood out to me was the team's incredible productivity and drive, even while working remotely. I knew I had to be part of this dynamic environment, and I was eager to join the rocketship that is Apryse.

Why Director of Global Business Development? What do you like about it the most?

As the Director of Global Business Development, I’m passionate about driving growth and innovation on a global scale. What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to work with the best of the best—highly talented individuals who are as driven as they are skilled. With cutting-edge martech applications, mature operational processes, and a well-structured sales compensation strategy in place, we’ve created an environment where our BDRs can thrive. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is seeing team members achieve rapid career growth and move up within the organization. Watching them succeed and advance is incredibly fulfilling and motivates me every day.

One of my proudest achievements at Apryse has been kick-starting the BDR function from scratch. Being part of a hyper-growth company demands adaptability and the ability to quickly course-correct when needed. We faced challenges head-on, and our approach of “fail fast and adjust” proved invaluable. Over the first year of operation, we saw a significant increase in our conversion rates. This success not only validated our strategy but also paved the way for our sales team to do what they do best—SELL! Seeing the direct impact of our efforts on the overall sales performance has been incredibly rewarding.

What has surprised you about working for Apryse?

One of the most surprising and impressive aspects of working at Apryse has been our productivity and collaboration as a fully remote company. Despite the physical distance, people are always available for virtual chats, and I'm never left waiting for responses.

Additionally, the exceptional leadership of our executive team has been a standout feature. They have guided the company with remarkable drive and vision, continually pushing us forward. Managing to keep everything on track in such a fast-paced, remote environment is a challenge that many organizations might struggle with, but our leadership excels in it. Their dedication and strategic foresight have been crucial to our success.

What is your favorite memory so far working for Apryse?

My favorite memory at Apryse has to be our annual planning and SKO events. Seeing everyone come together and have a great time really stands out. One of my fondest moments was playing a board game with the other marketing leaders. Kate, our CMO, also made everyone dinner after beating us all in bowling—she’s very competitive! It was such a blast and a perfect example of how much fun we can have while strengthening our team bonds.

What advice would you give to someone looking to start or continue their career at Apryse?

Apryse is a fantastic place to work, and the collaborative spirit here is one of its greatest strengths. You can always rely on your colleagues to get the job done and lend a helping hand—it's truly a team sport. My advice is to embrace the "fail fast and learn fast" mentality. Working in a private equity-backed software company can be intense and challenging, but if you approach it with a "give it your all" attitude, you'll benefit immensely from the wealth of knowledge and experience that exists here. Dive in, stay adaptable, and leverage the incredible support from your team.

What are some of your passions outside of work?

I spend a lot of my free time with my fiancé and our dog. In the summer, we love hosting dinner parties with friends and going outside to explore BC. During the winter, we try to go skiing as much as possible and go snow shoeing on trails behind our house. Personally, I enjoy fishing, hunting (not for sport), and sharpshooting. Over the past year and a half, I’ve also taken up flying and am currently working on my aerobatic “checkout.” This summer, I spent many weekends flying around the Okanagan, hopping between towns and small cities. It’s a completely different experience from my day-to-day work, and it helps me reset and recharge quickly.
