In honor of Accounting Day, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Anna Nguyen, Accounting Supervisor at Apryse. Anna finds joy in knowing her work creates a measurable impact on the company’s success. While accounting is often seen as structured and methodical, Anna reminds us it’s anything but boring.

Keep reading to learn more about her journey and get a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to be part of the accounting team at Apryse!

What made you want to start a career at Apryse?

What initially brought me to Apryse was the ability to work fully remote. My previous job in the public sector required me to return to the office as an essential employee. The flexibility was important to me after returning to the office during COVID. But what truly made me want to be part of this company was seeing a female CEO at the helm. That’s not something you see often in the tech world, and I was intrigued by the opportunity to experience a culture shaped by strong female leadership. It signaled to me that Apryse was forward-thinking, and that made the decision feel like the right step in my career.

How did you end up working in accounting? What do you like most about it?

I came into college thinking I’d be the next Warren Buffett as I majored in Finance with an emphasis in investing. But after realizing that the stock market can feel like a roller coaster, I thought… maybe I should also choose a different career path. So, Accounting became my second major and, ultimately, the path I followed.

I spent five years in audit, which I loved because every client was a new puzzle and a new industry to learn. Eventually, I moved to private accounting, and it’s been fun being the one audited for a change.

What I enjoy most about accounting is how tangible the impact is. The numbers tell the story of the business. It’s structured but hardly boring.

One accomplishment I’m particularly proud of is leading the implementation of Concur. I’ve supported several system rollouts in the past, but this was the first time I fully owned the project from start to finish. It was a great opportunity to apply everything I’ve learned while partnering with various teams across the company. Seeing how it has streamlined expense reporting for both employees and the Finance team has been incredibly rewarding.

What has surprised you most about working for Apryse?

What has surprised me most is just how fast everything moves at Apryse. We always joke that one year here feels like ten and honestly, we’re not wrong. There was a period where we were implementing major systems back-to-back like we were collecting them as a hobby. Even now that the pace has ‘slowed down,’ it’s still impressively fast. The surprise, though, has been how much I’ve grown because of it. You don’t realize how capable you are until you’re suddenly doing things you never imagined you’d take on so quickly.

What is your favorite memory so far working for Apryse?

I always look forward to the Christmas holiday events. They’re some of my best memories here. It’s the one time of year where people from every corner of the company come together to relax, celebrate, and enjoy great food. Each year we try a new restaurant, and it always feels like a well-deserved moment to connect, laugh, and appreciate the diverse team we get to work with.

What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career in accounting?

A career in accounting does not define you as a person. You can be a parent, a traveler, a musician, a volunteer, an activist, a friend, or anything else you wish. You can remain a full color human outside of spreadsheets … someone who has jokes that have nothing to do with revenue recognition or audits. The way I see my career in accounting is that my job supports the life I want, not replace it. That’s why you’ll catch me traveling more often than not.

What excites you most about the future of Apryse or your department?

What excites me most is that Apryse is growing, but still at a size where every person can have meaningful impact. As the company continues expanding into new products and markets, the finance team plays a critical role in supporting scalable growth and maintaining the integrity we’ve always had. I love being part of a company that innovates while still valuing strong fundamentals. It’s motivating to feel like I can build a long-term career here and be part of the story as it evolves.

A big thank you to Anna and our entire accounting team for their hard work in keeping Apryse financially strong, compliant, and positioned for continued growth. Your expertise powers the success of our organization every day.

If you’re inspired by Anna’s story and want to grow your career in accounting, we’d love to hear from you! Explore open roles and learn more about Apryse Careers.
