We’re continuing our series reimagining popular, everyday apps and platforms with Apryse document processing technology. After all, documents are at the heart of sharing information, which is core to many popular apps.
If you haven’t yet, be sure to check out previous instalments of this series, reimagining a popular language learning app and a book review platform.
We’re always innovating at Apryse, and with this series, that innovative spirit is spilling over into “what if?” territory. Today, we’ll explore a platform that most people use every day: personal online banking.
Whether it’s an app or in the web browser, your online portal to your bank accounts is an essential tool for viewing and managing your money. Today, many of these applications include secure in-app budgeting tools to help users understand and plan their finances, such as categories, charts or goals, as well as the capability to export statements as .CSV.
However, while many home budgeting strategies have risen and fallen, one stands strong: the humble spreadsheet. It’s not an uncommon practice for individuals to spend time working on their home finances, with their online banking open in one browser tab and a spreadsheet in another. So why not unite the two with Apryse?
What is Apryse Spreadsheet Editor?
The Spreadsheet Editor is an add-on for WebViewer which allows developers to add a full-featured spreadsheet experience directly within applications, allowing users to access and view files exactly as they would appear in Microsoft Excel. Full editing capabilities are included in the imminent Summer Release.
In contrast to external solutions like Microsoft Excel, which require cloud-based sharing or additional integrations, the Apryse Spreadsheet Editor provides a self-contained, secure environment for viewing and analyzing data.
In addition to spreadsheet functionality, WebViewer has much to offer. For example, many online banking experiences such as account registration or financial product applications could use PDF form filling and digital signature functionality, to provide an accessible, secure and painless application process.
In addition, text extraction technology is used in many online banking apps for features such as online check deposits, and all this functionality can be consolidated with WebViewer.
With Spreadsheet Editing built into your online banking app, users can skip the step of export or painstaking manual entry of transaction data into a third-party or homemade budgeting tool.
Keep users in your platform by offering a built-in, fully functional spreadsheet tool, with account data that automatically populates, eliminating security concerns. Allowing users to view and manage their money in a new, accessible format, including familiar Excel features such as formulas and formatting tools, has the potential to boost retention and customer satisfaction.
At the same time, by consolidating document functionality that many online banking applications may already use, such as digital signatures, PDF viewer, and form filling, online banking platforms can reap the benefits of vendor consolidation.
The user enjoys:
Personal banking is used by more than individuals. There are entire platforms dedicated to helping small businesses manage money, generate invoices, create expense reports, and understand where each dollar is going. Why not integrate all this functionality directly into your banking interface, keeping users in the platform?
WebViewer can generate documents, too. Populate any template with JSON data to generate your PDF, while retaining reflow, dynamic tables, images, and styles. Add bookmarks, accessibility tags, and images. You can even create PDF portfolios to combine several documents into one package while keeping them separate.
With spreadsheet editor and the ability to generate invoices, expense reports, custom statements and other templated documents directly within their online banking platform, why would a small business ever log out?
