The Challenge
For Docaposte, maintaining the trust of clients and their users in digital services is the highest priority. Therefore, any loss of data integrity, or inability to meet compliance standards is not an option.
The engineering team required:

- A solution that was easy to use, Java-compatible, and extensible
- Coverage of all legacy iText capabilities to preserve continuity
To continuously guarantee secure, inclusive and compliant digital services for France, Docaposte proactively chose to adopt a modern, high-performance solution.
The Approach
Docaposte began with iText Core, which provided the essential technical capabilities needed to effectively develop their application. Early requirements included the ability to sign documents, add form fields, insert watermarks, read field values, and insert blank pages. Beyond the technology itself, Docaposte also valued the strong online iText community, where public code samples and resources helped accelerate learning and testing.
Since adopting iText in 2009, Docaposte has steadily expanded its solutions and strengthened its reputation as a digital leader. In 2024, however, new business needs drove them to evaluate Apryse SDK. Specifically, they required the ability to convert Office documents to PDF, and PDF files to PDF/A format for long-term archiving. Additionally, accessibility compliance (including WCAG standards) were essential.
After a thorough evaluation, Docaposte determined that the Apryse Web SDK met these requirements, empowering them to extend their capabilities while maintaining the high standards of performance, compliance, and user experience their clients expect.
