Content Edit Gets Faster and More Reliable

PDF Editing is WebViewer’s add-on for making PDF content directly editable in the browser, the same way DOCX Editor and Spreadsheet Editor handle Word and Excel files. Its Content Edit feature offers a WYSIWYG interface: you can click on a PDF to edit text and images inline without any coding. The latest updates include faster opening times, quicker response during typing, and more reliable handling of rapid edits in long, complex documents. These improvements result in 89% faster performance over the previous version and fix various edge-case issues.

If your users edit PDFs directly, restyle text and images, or use search and replace for quick fixes, this update delivers a much smoother experience.

Stamps Now Import as Vectors Instead of Rasterizing

Before this release, building custom stamps beyond simple text and color meant using images, which couldn't be edited afterward. Also, stamps created from PDF content rasterized once they left WebViewer.

Now, stamps are imported as vectors. Vector stamps can be added via the API, using a blank WebViewer canvas with the drawing tools as a stamp editor. The finished stamp is then imported back into the PDF as a vector object. A library you build in WebViewer retains its fidelity wherever its opened next.

Better Stamp Management for AEC Teams

Previously, a single column listed every stamp, custom, and preset, making it hard to find options in growing libraries. Now, the panel separates custom and preset stamps with added search, filtering, and categorization, keeping large libraries navigable without excessive scrolling. Existing stamps remain unaffected, and new categories are optional.

Additionally, custom line and fill rendering used to require code. For an engineering workflow with a recurring line type, that meant writing it once and hoping it never needed to change. It’s built into the interface now. Custom fill types such as hatching follow the same path: build them through the API, and they show up wherever you’re working in the UI.

Signing Workflows Get Easier Field Navigation

Field navigation is easier this release, connecting a field to its signer with less friction. If your team is building signing in-house instead of licensing a third-party e-signature vendor, that closes some of the distance between your workflow and a dedicated signing product, without giving up control of how it’s built.

More From WebViewer’s Fall Release

WebViewer’s updates ship alongside two more releases in the same Fall Web SDK cycle. DOCX Editor adds a highlight tool for flagging text without opening a full comment thread, along with faster search and replace on long documents. Spreadsheet Editor adds threaded comments through the same Notes Panel already used in WebViewer and DOCX Editor.
